Emergency Psychiatric Services
Emergency Psychiatric Services provided by MPC include:
- The provision of treatment in order to stabilize and /or ameliorate acute symptoms of mental illness/emotional distress
- Inpatient hospitalization
- Health screening and referral to acute medical services
- Continued observation and assessment in the Extended Observation Unit
- Transfer to other facilities for further assessment and/or care
- Referral to an outpatient facility and/or treatment program
- Assistance in resolving present situational crisis
- Acceptance of appropriate referrals from the community at large
The Acute Observation Area (AOA) is utilized as a waiting and observation area for clients who are pending assessment. The AOA permits the staff to monitor these acute care clients once they have entered the facility.
