Our Staff
The Staffing Pattern on each acute unit is as follows:
- Nurse Manager
- Two (2) Staff Psychiatrists
- Registered Nurses
- Clinical Social Workers (2)
- Occupational/Recreational/Music Therapists (2)
- Activity Aides (2)
- Clinical Psychologist (1)
- Dietitian (1)
- Clinical Pharmacist (1)

Each inpatient is assigned to an interdisciplinary team composed of a Psychiatrist, Clinical Social Worker, Clinical Psychologist, Registered Nurse, Activity Therapist - with consultative services from a Clinical Dietitian and Clinical Pharmacist as needed.
The Nurse Manager is responsible for monitoring, facilitating and coordinating the treatment and progress of each client assigned to that unit - from initial treatment planning to discharge.

VISITOR RULES
- All visitors must present a picture ID, before signing in at the front desk.
- All visitors present must wear a visitor’s badge, and must sign in at the front desk, then they will be escorted to the appropriate unit where they must sign in again at the nurses’ station.
- Clients are limited to two (2) visitors at a time. No children under 16 are allowed on the unit.
- All packages must be checked at the nurses’ station. Clients are limited to three changes of clothing.
- Clients are not allowed to have contraband of any kind. This includes matches, lighters, devices with cords, drugs, alcohol, over the counter medications, etc.
- No sharp metal, glass, hard plastic or wooden objects can be given to clients. Visitors in violation of this rule are subject to removal from the facility by hospital security or local law enforcement officers.
- No cameras, cell phones, or recording devices are allowed on the unit.
- If such devices are found, they will be confiscated and given to security.
- Some clients are on special dietary restrictions, so please check with nursing personnel before offering food/beverages to your friend or relative. If your friend/relative may have food brought in from the outside, limit food items to those that can be consumed during your visit.
- Please limit snacks to small individual packages. We can not store large containers of opened snacks, sodas or juices. No food is to be delivered after regular visiting hours.
PLEASE NOTE: Metropolitan St. Louis Psychiatric Center is a smoke-Free facility. Both inside the building and on the grounds outside.
Regarding Patient Confidentiality
Metropolitan St. Louis Psychiatric Center is bound by Federal Regulations regarding the confidentiality of our clients. These Regulations prohibit us from verifying whether a person is a patient in this facility without written permission from the patient.
