The Volunteer Services Program at Metropolitan St. Louis Psychiatric Center (MPC) is recognized by the United Way of Greater St. Louis Volunteer Center for its quality and commitment to strengthen the experience of volunteers and enhance the human resources available to all community agencies.
There are many opportunities for community volunteers and student educational experiences available throughout the facility. Volunteers and students at MPC use their talents and energy to support the efforts of professional staff. Training and education is provided to familiarize volunteers with hospital policies and rules as well as patient interactions. Positions are available for volunteers 17 years and older from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily.
“Join us in the spirit of service” by contributing your time and skills as a member of the MPC Team. Purpose of MPC Auxiliary
The Auxiliary of Metropolitan St. Louis Psychiatric Center was formed in 1962 by persons interested in donating their time to fulfill identified needs of the facility and its clients. The Auxiliary is committed to providing funds to support client services that are not otherwise funded and to increasing public awareness of mental illness.
The Auxiliary’s main source of income is “The Gift Box,” a gift shop located in the facility’s lobby. The shop staffed by Auxiliary members and volunteers is open five days a week. Other fund-raising activities include bake sales, white elephant sales, and special events.
How to join the Auxiliary
Membership in the Auxiliary is open to everyone. Members are notified of volunteer opportunities, community mental health screenings, and special events and activities offered by the MPC Auxiliary.
By sending your check for $5.00 to MPC Auxiliary, 5351 Delmar Boulevard, St. Louis, Missouri 63112, you can help reduce the stigma of mental illness through community education and provide supportive services for patients.
For a tour of the facility or to learn more about the Auxiliary or volunteering, please call the Volunteer Services Department at (314) 877-0876.
